Meaning Meaning is not necessary for me to love a poem. Hopefully it has emotion or some REASON for it's creation - even if that reason is the pure love of creating verbal music. However, poems which have all of the other elements AND have meaning - in other words they tell some kind of story or convey a situation or passage - are incredible to me. They are the ones that stand out to me and really make me remember them. A poem whose form and "feel" are clever and/or pleasing in some other way will stand out to me as well, but the ADDED ELEMENT of meaning is what can make it a "favorite".
