It Takes A Genius

Form, rhyming, verbal music, meaning . . . all are important elements to a poem. Some poems have more of these elements than others - some of them have none!

While there are a lot of great poets out there, living & dead, there are very few who have been able to master all of these elements consistently! To take some inspiration from your soul and express its meaning while executing form, rhyming cleverly and creating verbal music all at the same time is rare, rare genius. One does not come across it every day.

Which is why I treasure the masters - my favorite of which is Edgar Allan Poe. There are others, but in my opinion, he was supreme.
